A good learning environment is the key to any effective learning. It is common knowledge that the learning environment shapes the learner and interaction between the learner and the environment is very crucial. Twenty-first century learning environments are envisioned as places where the learner is engaged in self-directed and co-operative learning activities, and the physical environment is planned so that it can be routinely re-organised to mediate learning (Partnership for 21st Century Skills, 2002) An ICT rich environment has its pros and cons on the enquiring mind.
ICT rich classrooms for example, can be sometimes very crucial as it stimulates the interest of young children and gains their attention. The use of ICT in the classroom makes learning fun and interesting. This is done through playing educational games .The use of the internet for research purposes is also very crucial. The use of Microsoft power point and word to create classroom displays, also help children to be more creative and develop some problem solving skills. Children who are easily distracted in the classical classroom setting and do not enjoy writing might feel comfortable incorporating ICT into their work, as it provides a wide variety of programs and teachers can control and manipulate programs to tailor their objectives within the classroom. The use of computer programs may be beneficial for a child with learning difficulties also, as there are programs designed to help with spelling, drawing, and mathematical skills, along with many more, whilst also providing a sense of imagination, colour, and pupil interaction.
